First off, you are wrong about Roy's experience as a director. Second, as someone who knew Roy briefly and likes him, I can safely say he isn't anywhere near the class of director that Wickes or Morehouse were and are. It is unlikely that Llinas is, either. The fact is, teachers of that caliber are hard to find, and we don't seem to have any currently on staff at LSU.
The band programs are in the shape they are in now because of very poor management from higher up. Until that changes and a truly great director is hired to rebuild these programs, don't expect much to change below the surface. Maybe that's enough for the casual fans and more recent former band members, but for those of us who can remember when the SOM enrollment was well over 500 students every year, and both the Wind Ensemble and TGBFTL were consistently GREAT, LSU's music programs are currently a shell of their former selves.
