I'm looking for some new stuff to check out. I really liked the Chance and Schoolboy Q records. About to dig into Kanye's album today.

What else should I check out along those lines?

It's probably not what you're looking for but Slime Season 3 was well received.

Even though his last album was from 2015, I have been listening to a lot of Seth Sentry lately.

On top of what has been listed Isaiah Rashad will be dropping one of the best on 9/2. Also by no means am I saying it's the best but YG - Still Brazy was a solid rap album.

Slim Thug and ZRo both came out with new stuff. I like them, but it has to be your cup of tea. They don't touch the new Schoolboy album, but I dodn't expect them to.

Chance the Rapper - Coloring book is not only the best rap/hip-hop album of 2016, it's the most influential and important album possibly ever. I know that may be a bit of hyperbole but the Grammys added a new category just for stream only albums because of coloring book. Record sales being barometers of music success is dying and chance further proves that.

I admire him for showing that you don't need a label to be successful. I think we may see more in all genres of music start to do similar to him in the future.

Yes I'm serious. It's the album that forced the Grammys to recognize independent artists. I said that is probably hyperbole and its definitely debatable, but the influence of his success he is having without a label is something that can help encourage more artists to stick to being independent and not allow labels to ruin their music. Also add in the fact that he is one of the most popular rappers out there right now and all his music is free.

I'm looking at it beyond just the tracks on the album, I'm talking about what Chance is doing in general, and coloring book is the album that has really started to put him on the map. In that sense it's, IMO, the most important album in a very very long time.

Frank Ocean is about to drop the R&B album of the century in about an hour or so. FINALLY.

ETA: Well it wasn't the album....still waiting
