You know, many historians agree that one of the reasons the Roman Empire fell was due to lowered standards of its military.

Rome originally had the best soldiers in the world. Then they started adding too many barbarian soldiers (who lacked the formal training) into their ranks.

It was used as a cheaper method due to the ever growing corruption of the Roman politics.

I am not saying the US military will suffer the same fate due to differences in military structure. I am saying that tampering with military training just to appease people is very detrimental to any nation
