2012 doesn't get as much love as it should, either the DL or the defense as a whole. starting DL was Sam, Mingo, Bennie, and Downs, with Freak, Lavar Edwards, Ego and Rasco as backups. they put up comparable stats to the 2011 for the most part (Minter and Lamin did a LOT more tackling than the 2011 LBs).
we had some bad luck with losing Tyrann and Tahj just before the season. that Sam backer spot was cursed. first no Tahj, then Muncie and Kwon went down replacing him. still a top 10 defense, and not a huge dropoff stats wise from 2011.

Don't forget Minter went down during UF with Louis coming in while he wasn't ready against a very physical UF team.
