All offset to the horrible air combat scenes. The way they were jerking the flight sticks around on those P-40's would have led to a crash in no time. As well Welch jumped and shot down Kate Torpedo bombers and was not in low level dogfights with Zero fighters. Even at the end of the war the US policy was NEVER dogfight a Zero on the deck. 2nd highest scoring US Ace, McGuire was killed trying to dogfight a Zero on the deck. So Pearl can stay in the pure Jank range for me.
If realism is how you determined these then you must think Braveheart is the worst movie of all time.

Actually in period pieces I am pretty forgiving as long as they try to capture the feel of the period. I am far less forgiving of recent history that they screw up on technical aspects. Using US tanks for German ones, wearing Vietnam Helmets/Uniforms for WW II. The air combat portion of Pearl Harbor was laugh out loud horrible. Take a movie like Memphis Belle, was it perfect, no but they tried and in Pearl it was bullshite Hollywood BS.
