Disliked: Earthbound. Required grinding is a design flaw, imo, and I don't see how you progress to the end of this game without doing that. If the combat was more engaging I probably wouldn't care as much but the game's quirky sense of humor isn't enough for me.
Most RPGs require some grinding, especially the older ones. The humor was hit or miss and is definitely aimed at a younger crowd. Nevertheless, Earthbound is a VERY good game, but the sequel Mother 3 is even better.
I'm not a big fan of Sonic games, any of the ones that I have played...but, I know I'm in the minority. Same goes for any first person shooter, and that seems like all there is now.

I rather enjoyed Mass Effect 3 which counts as a contrarian opinion in these parts.

quote:I'm aware, though that's more a trope of JRPG's than western RPG's. There just isn't enough in Earthbound to keep me with it, story or gameplay-wise. I'm cool with it, though. Maybe I'll give it another shot one day.

quote:You know, the further I get away from the Sonic games the more I've come to think that they were never that good, and this is coming from someone who used to be a hardcore Sega fan. The game design feels like it's at odds with itself. The levels encourage you to go fast but you are repeatedly punished for it by enemies you can't see coming until you've already run into them. And the times when you are truly going fast Sonic is typically inside a series of pipes and loops that you have no control over. Style over substance.
