They have a relatively (i.e. excluding the US) high rate of guns per capita, but the regulations are extremely burdensome, including a national registry and random home inspections. Ownership is largely restricted to sport shooting. Possession is mostly restricted to private property. Self-Defense is not a valid reason for a license (as opposed to competitive sport, hunting, and collecting). As a result, they probably have very few handguns.
