Fix the problems temporarily until the body adjusts and becomes desensitized to the dosage instead of fixing the person. I believe meds play a part in the rehabilitation and care of people in need of mental help, but as a society it seems that is the only fix being used.

I liken it to a leaky roof. You start with a small bucket (dosage) to catch the leak, but then that's too small so you get a bigger one (dosage), and bigger and bigger until the damage caused by the underlying problem causes the roof to cave in ( self harm or harm others). We need to fix the roof and have the small bucket to catch the small leaks when needed.
