The gay thing is to show that Penguin is too manic to even know what he wants. Riddler has the laser focus, Penguin has the manic passion for crime. It's also a way to break up their perfect partnership.

Well said.

I figured the gay thing would get this initial negative response but, honestly, it's right up Gotham's alley and I loved it. Ed and Oswald do have chemistry which made this particular story arc feel pretty natural instead of it feeling like forced, SJW crap we have often seen in the past.

The plot point won't last long anyway guys. The show runs at such a fast pace, it'll most likely be resolved and done with by the beginning of the second half of this season.

And if Gotham goes with a "no gays" policy, we lose the Barbara and Tabitha relationship. And I can't do without that.

From a story standpoint, leaving them as a non-sexual duo would allow for more storylines as they began bending Gotham to their wills, which would put them in direct conflict with Jim Gordon and the growing-like-a-fricking-weed Bruce Wayne.

What they'll do now is use this Kringle 2.0 chick to make Penguin feel foolish for having feelings for Ed, thus cheaply creating conflict between the two (will probably have Penguin being jealous of her and thus eventually having some hand in her demise or, at least, harming her).

Granted, this isn't GoT level writing but they are missing out on a more organic creation of conflict by pushing this ridiculousness.

At least it's not the pro-immigrant propaganda we were beaten over the head with on Supergirl this week though.
