Baseball is the number two sport in this country. The problem with baseball is everyone follows their team and once they are out of the playoffs stop watching. Baseball is number 2...it's not really even debatable.

The horrible marketing MLB does of their superstars makes a difference in the national numbers compared to what football and basketball bring

I think it would be fascinating to ask fans of teams in multi sports cities to rank the sports they'd want a championship in

Football would obviously be #1 but I think it'd be very interesting to see what #2 is

100% guessing here but I have a feeling there would be a few NBA choices like Miami and LA but northeast and Midwest would choose baseball. Hell it may just be who I'm friends with and I will gladly admit Astros are #1 to me but I'm pretty sure if you polled everyone I know in Houston people would rather an Astros World Series than Rockets championship

Granted, when you look at the local tv numbers what I'm saying isn't that surprising but still an interesting topic nonetheless

Eta: should've finished reading the thread, my thoughts were already mentioned

I'm a casual fan of both baseball and basketball. I'd rather a Braves WS than a Hawks NBA championship.

HOWEVER, I watched the NBA playoffs and I don't watch even a minute of the MLB playoffs.

So, if I am any indication, I support the argument that baseball rules locally and the NBA nationally.
