I grew up in south Louisiana but never heard about Professor Longhair until about 10 years ago (other than a couple of his well known Mardi Gras songs). Most of my friends from Louisiana don't even know his story and he's even more underrated nationally.
His early music only played on black radio so he wasn't as well known but that led to influencing Elvis and others. I've always loved the sound of Hey Now Baby and the lyrics of Junco Partner (in addition to his bigger hits like Tipitina and the collaborative Big Chief).

Love Fess. Crawfish Fiesta is a deserted island album for me. Just a perfect album.
