If the Saints knew about his beating a woman with a belt before they gave him a big deal, then it was "retarded." I suspect that wasn't the case. They locked up a stud pass rusher that was entering his prime at a reasonable deal. The issues started piling up after he got paid. It happens, but it's VERY difficult to predict.

Agreed. I was just using retarded in place of "massive." Being liberal with my adjectives. I don't think it was dumb at the time. You lock up pass rushers when you can. Everybody knows there are character risks in this league. I have no qualms with the Saints on signing or cutting Galette. The dude is a POS and we cut our losses with him.
