They were highly intelligent and extremely well-educated, after all. They wrote jokes that were only funny in German, for the German audience.

Holy Grail remains my favorite comedy. Some much greatness. The coconuts were out of necessity, they literally didn't have enough money in the budget to use horses. Co-directed by Terry Gilliam, his first experience with that. He went on to direct a few more movies that were pretty good.
