I'd say definitely fish deep big ole 10xd or a spoon but if you haven't been before finding good offshore stuff off the bat is tough.
I'd stay shallow and fish lilly pads with a frog or buzzbait then pack it in when the sun comes up and go back out about 6pm and try to find some perch.
