I, for one, celebrate the epidemic of fatness, obesity and superfatness (my word for those people for whom the other words just don't do justice).
It amazes me the things that the human body does to store excess fat and the places it puts it and how it changes the body to accommodate the extra weight. The reason that that I personally am glad that there are so many people who refuse to limit their food intake is that I am an outlier in several areas. My feet are a perfect 9.5 EEE and I have a size 8 head. Thanks to all the fat people, there is a bigger market for, and consequently a much wider availability of, shoes for wide feet and hats for large heads.
15 years ago, very few manufacturers routinely made EEE width shoes or sold caps in size 8. Now they are everywhere along with XXXXXXXL shirts and stretchy pants made out of enough fabric to outfit a clipper with sails and while I get by with an XL shirt and fairly normal sized pants, I'll bet the people who get their "big & tall" sized honestly are appreciative too.
