They are referring to two different things. Hose pipe is the pipe coming out of the wall/brick that the water hose screws into...

I'm in EBR parish and they telling me hose pipe. I'm done with these people.

I was in Port Allen the first time I ever heard the term 'hose pipe'.


Hose/Garden hose.
Spigot = thing on house you connect the hose to.

I think it's about as country as it gets. Grew up saying hose pipe. Now I just say hose.

Just about as yankee as "ink pen". You're a dummy if you think that sounds yankee. In the north they call the fricking thing a hose because they aren't retarded.
