This is true. However, if you are looking for one of the "super neighborhoods" that are so common here, you do get to factor in that there are no HOA fees in The Woodlands. It is it's own "township" and those are factored into your property taxes. And they actually use them to keep everything up. Not saying that doesn't happen in other Houston neighborhoods, but it didn't where I lived in LA.
