when we were kids we used to catch salt and pepper king snakes for the pet shops...we would just let the snake bite a finger and then pick him up, while he had a mouth hold it was easy to wrangle them

it really doesnt hurt at all and you can pry the jaws loose when you're ready. ive never had a king snake try to bite when just being held though, they are pretty docile
