You answered your own question. Our "civilized" notions of law and order don't let us take him out back and beat him with fan belts after the 2nd DUI - so at a certain point, when someone doesn't listen - I mean a 6th DUI means he never drives sober. He's probably been busted dozens of times for it and now been prosecuted at this level because he...will...not...listen.

It's not because of what happened, but that he will drive drunk again and this is to protect your kids and mine from him.
