We had to cave with Drew. No way we could let that go another year (which he was fully prepared to let happen as the tag would have gone up even more than the $20 mil he got).

Jimmy was more because of the TE/WR bullshite. And it was still a lot closer to the TE tag (maybe $1 mil per year more max).

Armstead is neither Brees nor confused about his position. Next year (if he played well again) the deal would have been for around the tag price. So we saved a bit. That's a bargin not a steal.

Edit:
Brees' tag was $16.3 mil, but would have jumped to $23.5 mil the next year. He was prepared to take it that far if we didn't compromise. That's over a $7 mil difference.

Jimmy's tag wouldn't have jumped that much.
