I was gifted a bottle of Talisker 10 a few years ago. Hated it at first, but I like it now. Scotch is just something I never really messed with until recently. I think it's because I tried Jonnie Red and hated it so much in college. 
I watched a few videos reviewing the Ardbeg while drinking it and I already am starting to pick some things out that I like. It's just very different from my usual pours.
