The number of hardcore users will have little variance whether it's legal or illegal. Dangerous designer drugs would probably lose out to coke and weed If they were ever to be legal

The illegal nature of the drug industry does not make you any safer

I think this has been really overlooked by many in the WOD. Does that bullshite synthetic weed (that fricks you up 1000x more than actual weed) ever get invented if actual weed was legal?

And even if it would, would nearly as many people tried it? I doubt many people looking for "Synthetic" weed would smoke that over the real thing if both were legal and available.

Clearly the ones that are already using hardcore in an illegal setting are not going to change.
When a substance is cheaper and readily more available (once legalized) then it only makes sense that usage increases along with users. How many times do you think the worthless hardcore user said before he took his/her first hit of anything.... I'm probably going to be hooked...I can afford this coke but once I go broke I'll be a crackhead. I understand weed is in a different ballpark and the subject of the OP but the concepts are all similar.
The basic theory of mine is that many people can handle casual drug usage and many people can't handle it. There is really only one way to find that out. It's not worth it as I see.

I just don't see any truth to this statement. Once again, it's not the casual users or the dealers that are going to be a problem to the immediate society.
