I did enjoy this movie, and Tom Hardy was amazing as usual in this movie, but I definitely agree with you when you say this.

quote:

HOW-EVA, it feels like too much time and too many resources were devoted to that aspect of the film, and there simply wasn't enough put into the story, structure, pacing, etc.

There was really no plot which I thought was dumb. It was just about the interaction between Reggie and Ronnie Kray, and the love story of Reggie and Frances. They were just kind of lazy with putting a story together.

they spent a lot of time on too much shite

if it was about the relationships, they spent too much time focusing on things like the police. i mean when you think about what brought them down (which was rushed itself), it had little to do with the police following them during the earlier part of the movie

i think they also spent too much time trying to force a relationship/interaction b/w ronnie and frances, because ultimately it didn't really pay off in any meaningful way. ronnie's conflict was with their job/status and how that affected reggie. reggie's main conflict was with frances and ronnie fricking up their enterprise. keep it simple and efficient and things will flow better

it's a crime movie that didn't really do much crime and a relationship movie that was complicated and surface level at the same time
