Anecdotally, I'm sure you have plenty of success stories but long term, there are very few people who consistently binge on the weekends for years and don't develop a problem. Listening to my brother, it was the Mondays that he had to work early that slowly led to his problem overwhelming him...

This conversation is about someone who acknowledges a problem so please keep that in mind...



I think there are people who have problems with drinking and there are people with drinking/addiction problems. Not sure how the professional/rehab community would deal with that. I could be wrong, but I've spoken with a counselor who seemed to agree.

I know plenty of people, myself included at times, who allow alcohol to cause issues in their life sporadically. But, many of them, myself included, can and do simply not drink for weeks at a time without any real urge to do so.

That type of thing might be what the other poster was referring to, I'm not sure.
