USSF prez Sunil Gulati: Revenue generation "absolutely part of the equation" for player pay. USSF: MNT generates almost 2x as much as WNT.
There you have it.

Was going to say that I didn't really care about proportional pay, although I'm sure that that is central to the case. I wouldn't mind the USSF subsidizing the women's team since their professional careers are always all over the place.
Looking at the NWSL, it appears that the USSF pays a salary directly to the national team players involved. I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere. Have we talked about that yet?

Profit? Revenue? Over how long a time frame?
ETA:
US Soccer's response:
quote:
A U.S. Soccer spokesperson disputed the revenue figures presented in the U.S. players’ complaint. “During the last four years, the men’s revenues have been significantly higher than the women’s national team,” the spokesperson said. “The numbers provided in the complaint at times are inaccurate, misleading or both. And looking at a single year doesn’t provide the entire picture. If you look at four or eight years cumulatively, the men’s national team revenues are almost twice that of the women’s national team.”
According to US Soccer, the revenues for the last four years:
Men's: 77.6 Million
Women's: 49.1 million
Not exactly "almost twice as much," but an obvious difference.
If you factor in projections for this year, the last four years is:
Men's $75.2 million
Women's: $56.7 million
ETA: Basically USWNT makes bank with WC and Olympics + Victory Tours. Other two years, not so much, although I'd imagine they'll do some sort of summer tour/tournament annually now to make money.
