LSU has been plagued with chemistry issues in the locker room this season, and sources said renowned sports psychologist Dr. Joe Carr was at LSU twice this season to help Coach Johnny Jones try to create a culture of accountability and work with Simmons. Dr. Carr sat behind the LSU bench for at least one nationally televised game.

"Simmons is dealing with an epic amount of pressure and distractions but he is a future global superstar," one source said.

"Simmons totally bought into the team chemistry exercises," the source continued. "He was fully committed to being a better leader and teammate. Not certain everybody else did."

perfect example today: quarterman tries to call a huddle after a foul, gathers everyone to talk and patterson just walks away. could see tim shaking his head.

Side note: this sounds like a badass job. But I hope they didn't pay him too much for his services.

I don't think Simmons was as great as advertised.

He pulls in double doubles, sure, but so do a lot of players in the NCAA. I don't see how he is good enough to be a one and done guy.

Future NBA player? Absolutely.

Go cry about it then, just like his coach, he's not above criticism.

I think there is only one player in SEC that averages a double double

Where did it say in the OP that Simmons was the issue? Did you just read the headline and respond?

CJJ has spoken to this several times this year, so he recognized this as an issue and possibly even a weakness of his, as is evidenced by your link. Still it only got worse.

That's a hard thing to recover from. You can bring some new players next year, but this culture has been festering and growing for four years. Not an easy fix and not one I'm sure CJJ is capable of overseeing.

If I had to guess, I am sure that Quarterman/Grey and some of the others may have issues communicating. Too bad. And too bad Hornsby was only able to play 2/3 of the season. He is clearly a leader and we were clearly better with him.

Not sure Hornby was a leader. I think he was an energy and effort guy and that Johnny wanted him to be a leader, but I think he was more a get along guy.

Did Carr suggest "you're in over your head, JJ"?
