Those microSD cards are actually pretty fast nowadays. Transfer speeds of 50-90 MB/s (real world) in the better ones, which would contend even with a local network. That Samsung SD card has very low write speed, though, which I imagine will be important for a backup solution. OP should look into SanDisk Extreme Pro SD cards... Or maybe put an SSD into an enclosure.
