Tank Watch 2016: 3/3 Update
Posted on 3/3/16 at 7:02 am

Sitting at 6th right now, 5 games back of the TWolves. Twolves, Nets, Suns, Lakers and 76ers are all in, no chance we catch any of them.
The more important thing is who, and how many, are behind us. Four teams are within 1 game of our 6th spot.
Falling from 6th to 10th would be a major disappointment for this team.
At 6 we will have a chance at Jaylen Brown or Kris Dunn. 7 or 8 will be the latest we could snag a Hield or Murray.
Fall to 10, and it's nothing but project bigs, which we don't need.
Our next 13 games are ripe for the tanking. Should go 1-12.

Gentry said we aren't a playoff team. Tank is [On] Off.

Murray might go top 3 after the way he is/will be playing the last month of the season

No more guards!!! I want a sf, guards are the easiest players yo get in FA and trades. We've had a huge hole at the 3 since Ariza its about time we address it and develop our own prospect.

I think we're all tired of the huge hole at SF, but after Simmons and Ingram, there isn't much there in this draft at SF.
Maybe it's just me, but I've feel like I've seen hundreds of the Jaylen Brown type who do well in college due to size and athleticism, but flame out in the league when their size and athleticism is no longer an advantage. If the Pels decide to win a bunch of games from here on out, maybe we take a look at Taurean Prince. Right now, draftexpress has him at #22 in their mock draft.
IMO, you take the non-PF BPA this draft. We have such a lack of a talent, we can't afford to reach for a certain position.

Murray's rise into the top 5 is great for the Pels. Means Dunn or Brown could fall.
Point is the bust factor increases exponentially the further we fall in the draft order.

He's a senior and he's not scoring in bunches like Hield, so I don't think he moves up much more unless he has a huge tourney. But I'd love to find a way to get a pick in the 20s and grab him.

No we are fine at 3 positions PG,SG, and PF other than that we are awful. I want to draft a guy who defensive minded and plays hard if Brown falls I want him if we pick around 6. If we keep winning I like Luwawu he's a versatile defending wing and get a compared to Batum. He falls into that Kawhi/Butler type if he gets under the right development he will be the wing that we need.

I beg to differ that we are fine at SG. IMO, there are only two positions that are solidified, PG and PF. Every other position needs to be addressed either through the draft are free agency. If we don't fall in the top 6, I'm all for them taking the best player available that will fill one of the positions of need and that player is Buddy Hield for me. IMO, Hield is the only player in the entire draft that can make an immediate impact on a roster the day he is drafted. I'm not saying he's the best player or the one with the most potential, but he's ready to contribute significantly right now. That's something the Pels desperately needs.

Brown would be really nice. Not a shooter but he has a chance to be an elite defender and he gets to the basket with ease

We have Q a 3 and D off ball guy and a lock down defender. I know people don't like reke but he isn't going anywhere and he also provides options at that position. We can also go out in FA and sign a guy like Bazemore this season. Meanwhile unless you draft them or max them you aren't getting a good sf so how about we actually develop one. I know the whole idea of developing young players in new to this franchise but looking at other teams it just might work. We have our hugest holes at the 3 and 5 where we get 0 production and that's what hurts us the must. Its been put off for years putting band aids on it but its time to address it in the right way. Simmons, Ingram, Brown, Luwawu give me one of them.

If you had better options at SF you could play QPon at SG. QPon + BDJ + MLE level FA would be "fine". It might not be a strength, but it wouldn't be a problem either.

Agreed. I don't think a package of the 2nd round picks necessarily gets us in the 20s, but it would be nice.

The biggest issue of this team is defense we've never had trouble scoring I don't get why people are looking for more guys in the draft that only want to score. We need a guys to where we go into scoring droughts we can get stops not look to score more. We need a versatile defender who can play off ball and make quick passes.

I have a feeling where the Pels will be selecting their pick none of these players will be available. Hence why I said Buddy Hield will be my choice and maybe they can look towards free agency to fill the hole at the SF position.

Luwau is projected to be picked 8-12

Jrue has the position held down, but his ability to play on and off the ball give you flexibility to bring in another PG to play alongside of him. Someone like Murray who can also play on and off the ball may be a really good fit with Jrue.

SG
EG is a FA this year. I don't think we can rely on him to solidify the SG position whether he comes back or not. That leaves us with Tyreke. IMO, it should be a top priority to find a trade partner for Tyreke this offseason. Even if he stays, adding a backcourt partner for Jrue, who can shoot and spread the floor is a need.

Agreed.

We'll have to agree to disagree on Brown. I just do not like him at all. Reminds me of another AFA or Julian Wright coming out of college.

Luwawu
I honestly have never seen him play, nor know much about him. Maybe he comes into play with our pick. The scouting report on him seems pretty good, but I can't really form an opinion just off of that.

Despite if you like Tyreke or not he's not being traded he's coming off a season of 3 knee surgeries. All I am saying we can live and be still be very competitive at the SG position with 3 guys of Tyreke, Q, and BDJ. As with the SF position we still have nothing but a few bench players to try to act like starters.

This is how I feel regarding the SG position too. Hield fits perfectly. I believe the Pels will ended up picking between 8-13 and Hield will be the only player on the board in that range that will make an immediate impact on the roster.

I do think that it is most probable that he is on the team next year, but it wouldn't be impossible to move him.

For next year, yes. But we should be looking for long term pieces in the draft, which none of those guys are. Maybe Q-Pon is, and I love the guy, but I don't think he's that good to where we would ignore the position in the draft. His ideal role, on a team built to make a deep run in the playoffs, is a 6th/7th man.
