What Would People Think About Mel Tucker as LSU's DC?

I like him because: (1) I hear that he's a good NFL secondary coach, (2) he has prior experience coaching defensive backs at LSU in 2000, and (3) he's from Tressel's defensive staff, and spent one year--2004--as the co-defensive coordinator for the Buckeyes.

For me, #3 is the biggest reason why I like him, since I happen to think that Tressel is the best defensive mind in college football right now, and that the Buckeyes are the best coached team. Also, Tucker is yet another coach with ties to Miami(OH), a legendary birthplace for football coaches.

In his first season with the Browns in 2005, Tucker led the secondary unit as the Browns ranked fourth in the NFL in pass defense (179.2 ypg). Tucker joined the Browns after spending the previous four seasons (2001-04) on Jim Tressel’s staff at Ohio State. Tucker coached defensive backs and was co-defensive coordinator during the 2004 season as he played an integral role in game preparation and strategy.
