Holiday Inn and Chateau Suites downtown Shreveport are near the switch tracks. Holiday Inn recently persuaded the city to close a street that crossed the track, so the trains don't have to blow the whistle there anymore. They say you can still hear the rumble of the train in some rooms, but it is much better.
