Exactly. Everything they say might be true. I just want someone to take the advice of all math teachers and "show your work."

Conclusory statements without any support doesn't do much for me.

I went and compiled all pass attempt stats from 1970 to 2015 - entire NFL, top 10 pass attempt offenses, top 5 pass attempt offenses. There was a large spike in pass attempts in 1978-1980 (rule changes and extended season), a minor spike in 1995 (rule changes), and a gradual increase in pass attempts starting in 2010. I didn't see a "Peyton Manning entered the league on this date and then the league learned the benefit of a pass heavy offense" type statistic. The 2010 increase could have been a delayed result of Peyton Manning-style offense, idk.

For your review...

League Average Pass Attempts per Year - 1970 to 2015

Top 10 Average Pass Attempt Offenses per Year - 1970 to 2015

Top 5 Average Pass Attempt Offenses per Year - 1970 to 2015

I wish someone like Greg Cosell would do some comprehensive research.
