No it's not. Not even close. Lafayette is pretty small.

Lafayette, Louisiana metropolitan area - 479,116

Shreveport – Bossier City metropolitan area - 447,000
LINK



Last I checked 479,000 was a larger number than 447,000.

So yeah, its close. Lafayette Parish alone has 221,578 almost a quarter of a million people and growing by the day.
