The official "metro" designation, whatever that is, gives Lafayette a larger metro area than Shreveport. And yes I'm pretty sure that metro area includes Opelousas, New Iberia, and Breaux Bridge.
Again I don't know how they come up with that, but it's an official designation not us just adding places together

The MSA is based on commuting patterns primarily. The MSA includes Iberia but not St Landry. It's all about where people work.
