I imagine they make such a fuss for Navy promotions because of how much difficult it is to get promoted vs the Army and Marines. I see folks in the Navy (good sailors) that have been in close to 8 years and are just making E-5. In the Army I was an E-5 at 2 2/3 years of service (came in a E-3).

Good point. But does that make you less a Soldier because you fast tracked? I would imagine that your First Line Supervisor or Platoon Sergeant seen your potential and did the right thing (BTW, good job). One of the main reasons it takes the Navy longer is the test they take in comparison to the Army Selection Boards. The Navy really has a more fair and competitive way of advancing as sad as that may sound. What is your MOS?

Definitely if he's single join navy. Girls love sailors man. I've been to Scotland England Africa Italy Spain Malta Dubai Greece Seychelles south Carilina virginia New Jersey Florida Illinois just in four years. When you put on that dress uniform the panties drop. Even when you wish they wouldn't have. Pull them things up girl. Nasty

I was a medic, 91W at the time. Been out 10 years.

I'm not saying I was better or worse at my job than anyone that took longer to be promoted in another service. Just saying that every branch has their pros and cons.

I work with Navy folks so I see first hand how good sailors go year after year without promoting.
