When I read the OP, the first thing that came to mind was that obviously there were no deserving white players. I never once thought that white players should have equal representation or that there is something amiss since we're such a large percentage of the population yet no one made the roster. I believe that thought process points out how different cultures are conditioned to view race and discrimination. I'm not going to imply that all whites see it this way, nor would I ever say that all minorities are looking to play the race card, but it is intriguing nonetheless. If you learn to take away race as the first differentiating factor, you can often get to the heart of the problem - in this instance, white players weren't good enough. It is so lazy and frankly dangerous to point to race and stop there when dissecting merit based awards and recognition.
