Yea, Spirit isn't bad. Even United is better than SWA(SWA is NEVER cheapest when I look)
Also might look into LAX out of the country, and then how much to get there. I have family in Irvine I can stay with.

Good luck. Don't forget to credit your miles to a US based program for ease of use in case you fly a non-US airline.
