I think Verizon is doing the same thing, but honestly it ends up being cheaper than a 2 year contract for myself.

Have my wife and I on the edge up shite, but we also have her sister on her 2 year contract. She got a deal with a free phone with 2 gigs of data for like $75. We switched her off that, we have like 12 gigs of data to share and with edge up for iPhones, we save like $20 a month had we all been on the 2 year contract with only 2 gigs. It's not a lot but more data and new phones sooner and save a little in the process is a win for me.

I am leaving AT&T as soon as my husbands contract is up in February. They are increasing the cost of his unlimited data plan so he has the option to get out. We are going to try Cricket. I know, it is ghetto and all that but it is cheap and they use the same cell towers as AT&T! Why pay so much? I need a new phone so I am just buying one full price up front and taking it to the Cricket store. It isn't like I am getting screwed buying a new phone since AT&T makes you pay full price but over a long period of time. Cricket also doesn't have contracts so if it really does suck then we leave. As an added bonus they have free International calls from Mexico and Canada as well as texts, we cruise a lot so that could end up coming in handy.

My Verizon plan is way better. Saved me like $80 /mo to their new package plans no 2 year.

Bought 3 month old Motorola phone off eBay for $120.

Get away from apples shite and the android phones are damn nice and greatly priced used
