1+ on the Drake (Chinese Elm - Ulmus parvifolia). Very attractive shape, bark and tons of shade. Also, doesn't grow too fast such that it outgrows its root system.

The correct answer to getting the fastest shade tree is a Royal empress or Paulownia tomentosa

Should grow to 30 feet in 3 years. Big leaves. Fragrant purple flowers

It's like a Chinese tallow tree in that it's invasive with it's seed droppings. But cutting ur grass ends that concern

Buy the plant via eBay, I wouldn't fool with the seeds. A guy from Mississippi used to sell them on eBay. I think his name was sawmill
