You can watch sporting events on the ESPN tab. More games than you want, like Slippery Rock vs Mercyhurst U women's lacrosse.

No you can't get local channels.

I don't know why your family being on Netflix matters. Roku is just another conduit for Netflix and other video streaming companies. It doesn't have it's own content.

I only got it to watch LSU baseball.

Something like Roku is good because it allows for better streaming most of the time. My Samsung TV has a lot of lag issues when trying to stream Netflix. My Roku doesn't have that problem.

Unless he has a login for a cable subscriber, all he'll be able to watch is bullshite like women's lacrosse. Have someone re-read his original post to you.
