Does the fact that he bet on his team to win help his cause any? I know some will say betting is betting, but I thought I read he only bet on his team to win?
Not really. If you're consistently betting on your team to win, not betting at all is at best a signal that you believe your team will lose and it's hard to prove you are above suspicion of negatively influencing your team. Hey, after all, he's Charlie Hustle and he'd never want to lose right? Sure, but did he love winning as a gambler more than winning as a manager?

For the games you have money on, do you behave irrationally (like in the management of the bullpen) in order to win today's game at the expense of tomorrow's?

The only "proof" baseball has that Rose did not bet on his team to lose is Rose's word. Consider that he is an admitted liar & has lied for several decades now. A gambler like he is....he is still betting on baseball, legally, now.....bets on everything.
