What? The President of the University put academics before Athletics (or more precisely, the politics around academics). His actions, while perceived as detrimental to the athletic program, we're aligned with his job description. Alleva is responsible for the AD. If he's ineffectual at making his case, he shouldn't have that position.

It's not worth discussing here, but the President of a flagship University is supposed to consider more than athletics. The AD has one job.

No, don't patronize me, I understand and maybe I should have expounded more. In the vacuum of analyzing Alleva, he is looking out for LSU's (the part he controls) best interest.

I believe King Alexander considered what he did in the best interest of LSU, the university. It sounded, but I didn't mean to, like I was implying Alexander wasn't looking out for LSU's best interest. However, on the merits of the course of action he took, I believe he did a very poor job at it.

I'm not patronizing you. That response was more to the board in general. And even in that context, it wasn't patronizing. It was trying to adjust the perspective based on my humble opinion. Sorry if it came off as condescending.

I don't blame the president for considering everything in excess of the athletic department any more than I blame the director of Athletics for not convincing the powers of the importance of his area of responsibilities.
