I have no intentions of getting a 4x4. I just cannot have a 4x4, if I get one then I have to use it and that costs me all kinds of money in repairs.
If I have a 4x4 I'm going to drive into every mud puddle I see. So I get a 2x4 so I don't. I went through two engines in my old Montero (the big one not the sport) off roading before I decided "no more". It's just too much fun. I think most here get the 4x4 for the status and never go off road. (assuming, but still the people I know with 4x4 never really use it)
So all being equal I think I prefer the new GM products better, but want to see how resale goes.

I hear you. I read a stat the other day that something like 60% of truck sales are 4 wheel drives, so a lot of people buy 4x4 without much intention to use them. I guess it's a rather have it then not situation.
However, if you live in a snow climate an drive a truck 4x4 are necessary.
All my buddies have 4x4's. They pull into the duck camp or hunting camp and unload there side by side or 4 wheel atv's, so in reality they did t have to buy the 4x4 truck to do the hobbies they like except to haul the four wheel atv's to the woods.
