quote:There is nothing redeeming about this event. It shows that LSU has a disconnected AD and an alumni association that acts like a bunch disgruntled children. None of this should have been made public until after the season.... Actually, after the bowl.
This event though sad and poorly thought out may have achieved a great deal for LSU and our fan base.
quote:People across the country saw how screwed up the administration is. The one redeeming thing is how mature Les was in handling it. I have to commend Les on taking the high road.
1. Because of this event, people and recruits across the country saw how much LSU's players, fans and national media really love and respect Les Miles. They saw how much Miles' loves his players, and he loves coaching at LSU. What people saw repeatedly on ESPN, was not the negatives regarding Les Miles but most of of the positives regarding Les Miles, and that Miles has a higher winning percentage than Saban at LSU. I doubt many knew that.
This issue here is that the program is on a slow downward spiral since the 2012 Championship loss. The "winning percentage" is dropping even though the recruiting is still high. Because of this event there will most likely have a negative impact on recruiting. Who wants to go to a school that is in turmoil??? So things could get worse.
quote:Your optimism is admirable but, this issue will not be settled until midway into next year's season. If Brandon Harris doesn't develop and the offense remains vanilla LSU will not win the SEC title and will not make the final four BCS tourney. Nearly every pass Harris threw last night was overthrown. One overthrown pass resulted in an interception. We can't continue running off-tackle plays with no confidence in the passing game.
2. Because of this event, the want to improve and the fight to achieve victory among LSU's players and coaches will be much stronger next year, more so than it's ever been at LSU. This event guaranteed that.
quote:You're living in a dream. As for the Juniors, I can't image an NFL prospect turning down a multi-million contract because they love Les and bleed purple and gold. Get real!
3. Because of this event, I doubt we see as many LSU juniors leaving for the pros as we have seen in the past, too many will want to stay and ensure victory for their beloved coach Les Miles next year. If you saw what I saw, you saw players who will not allow their coach to removed next year. They will be stronger next year and much harder to beat.
quote:I don't believe he has ever taken his job for granted. The rumblings about some of his poor coaching decisions have been going on for years now. It's finally reached a head. I'm hoping Les see this event as a wakeup call and makes some serious changes to the system. Based on his past history I'm not optimistic.
4. We all at some point take the positives in our lives for granted, whether it's our wives or our jobs. Because of this event, Les Miles will no longer take his love of coaching at LSU for granted, I can guarantee you that, expect a much more serious Les Miles to address any issues that require changes.
The bottom line is that Les is an exceptional recruiter but, not an exceptional coach. The travesty of the 2012 BCS championship loss is a prime example. If he can't adjust his offense and develop the QB position for next year then he needs to go. If it means a shakeup in the coaching staff, so be it. If things don't improve AFTER next season then Les needs to go.
In my opinion, the only person that needs to be fired before next season is the AD Alleva. He could have ended this nonsense immediately by coming out in support of Les as soon as the rumors came out. After the Chavis incident and now this, it is obvious that Alleva has no character or is just stupid (possible both). He should be replaced TODAY.

I really doubt that Coach Miles is going to make "serious changes to the system" in light of his public statements after last night's game.
