Director John Hughes was having a windup through the exaggeration of stereotype characters. It's a farce, not endorsements of sexism, racism, or ageism (another running joke in the film). This is how comedy works, by imitating the action of men and women worse than ourselves to upend taboos and provide catharsis.



Moreover, you miss the whole point of this movie, which is poetic justice.
