No offense, but it's unfair to take away what was accomplished in the mid-2000's due to LSU's record before Les took over. If you do, then you have to point the finger at Saban as well.
You are kidding right? Clearly LSU was at exactly the same level when Saban and Miles each took it over right?
quote:
Sure, Saban left Les some good recruits to work with, but Gerry Dinardo did not leave a bare cupboard either. He had top 5 recruiting classes and started locking up the top state talent in the years leading up to his firing (1999). Immediately before Saban, LSU's record might not have been stellar, but the recruits were.
Are you this dense? Really? Are you stating that LSU talent in 1999 was anywhere close to what it was in 2004? The subsequent years? No one claimed Saban had no talent when he got here. Furthermore, DiNardo improved Louisiana recruiting significantly, but he didn't by any means "lock down" the state.
He also took on a ton of risky but talented players with behavioral issues. Hell, their best DB was kicked off the team by Saban. No one said LSU was void of talent, but their talent was not even close to the talent collected in 2005 and the losing culture still existed.

If you are taking credit away from Miles's early success, then you have to do the same for Saban.
Ok, Let's take out his first 3 years:
22-4 for 85% with one l1 game season and a bowl game where Saban was checked out.
I am not even a Saban fan, but I am not going to let Lesphiles sit here and boast about his stats like he took over a losing team and turned them into some juggernaut.
