Yes. The three drove through the woods with the valve open, spilling gas along the way, then lit it with a match box.

If the 3 people (now 2 people after the death of insulin girl) knew about the truck why would they steal the motorcycle?
Motorcycle might get good gas mileage but offers no protection against walkers. Truck would be much better to have, especially if you are as inept as that dude was, plus you have extra fuel for travel...
