Miles will determine the offenses philosophy, not the OC. He's proven that over and over. I bet that's why we had delay of game penalties and forced time outs. Miles was negating the play and a new one had to be sent down.

and that's why he hired Cam. Cam and Miles are on the same page when it comes to offense philosophy. Really that's the problem in a nutshell. Air Coryell, at it's most basic concept is to establish a strong run game and stretch the field vertically through the use of a deep passing game. Which is what we seem to do a lot of.
It was created maybe about 30 years ago. Problem is many newer and more effective systems have come along that work much better in the era we are currently in. There may still be some NFL teams that use the air Coryell but they have also incorporated a lot of spread concepts into it stretching the field not only vertically but also horizonally. Making use of the whole field. Creating space. Using all your playmakers and getting them in space to make plays. Doesn't mean you are running a "gimmicky" spread offense. Todays offense don't seem to get as caught up in all the labels, they just try to do what works.
