what some fans do not, and will never, understand is that the level of talent from year to year fluctuates. also, the level of performance does also. at LSU, it fluctuates less than in many other schools but it fluctuates nevertheless. this would be true even if you field only 5 star players (which is probably impossible).

miles has done a great job in keeping LSU relevant for the last 11 years and it looks like this will continue for the next few (at least).

is nick saban better? yes but he's not at LSU.

are there other coaches better than miles? I don't think so. maybe urban meyer but he isn't coming to LSU.

I don't think miles needs to win this game to be "vindicated".

All due respect, Gramps, but Miles needs this game like the grass needs the rain. He has had his share of inexplicable gaffes that have cost LSU. The standard now, like it or not, is winning the SEC West and, for now, that means beating Alabama. That is all there is to say. Anything less is disappointing.
