I'm sure this question has made its rounds before but is it really better to go to dealership? I drive a Toyota and always go to dealership - I know I'm paying more but I feel like they do multipoint inspections, etc... maybe it's just piece of mind knowing someone halfway knowledgable is working on my vehicle.

Negative, dealerships don't care anymore than the other places.

Hell no. They are no better than your local shop. Probably worse because people have this false sense of security with the dealer and do not have to earn your business.

They don't. They get paid per car. Why would they waste time with an inspection?

The people who change oil don't know any more than other oil
Changers. Same goes for the master mechanics.

Oil change is probably ok at dealer, anything else find a reputable mechanic. Went to a local dealership for an oil change and after inspection received a $6000 full page list of needed repairs. Took to mechanic and list was reduced to 3 items for $700.

I'll go to the dealer when my car is under the powertrain warranty. That way they have all of the records in their system and can't come up with some BS excuse that someone else screwed things up.

If it's a dealer you regularly do business with you should be fine. They aren't going to frick you over on an oil change when you buy a vehicle from them every couple years.

Doesn't hurt they come get my truck at the office then bring it back when they're finished
