I still consider the prequels as a net positive for the Star Wars mythology as the movies may not be well done and have very poor execution

You're argument amounts to "I wanted pizza, and got a really crappy pizza, but it's still pizza." The classic pizza defense.

What's the point of getting a rough idea when the whole point of the prequels was to give us an actual idea? Why did I have to sit through 9 hours of movies to get a glimpse of how all those institutions of the Old Republic worked? How is that at all a net positive?

It's true.

When a pizza is good, it's pretty damn awesome and you'll remember it forever. That was the case with the originals.

When a pizza is bad, it's still decent to good but not something that keeps popping up in your head. That was the case with the prequels as I got a rough idea of what the republic looked like and I was throughly entertained. Something is better than nothing.

The prequels are not a total net loss like some hardcore fanboys would have you believe and I'm saying this someone who recognizes and validates the originals as far superior to the prequels. The prequels just get a lot of unnecessary hate, that's all.
